The annual Art-A-Whirl is a massive, neighborhood-wide art opening studio and showing in Northeast Minneapolis, an area heralded as the biggest arts district in the US. There is an incredibly vibrant scene of visual and performance arts clustered in more than two dozen often historic, formerly industrial buildings. The neighborhood is also home to some of the most imaginative restaurants, venues and breweries in the city.
Leg Up Gallery is part of my group's printmaking studio space which is home to all manner of jointly owned (or long-term loaned) fine art printmaking equipment including two intaglio presses, a lithography press, serigraphy vacuum stables and print tree. Located on the first floor of the Casket Arts building, a former casket factory built in the early 1900s, the gallery/studio has hundreds of sister studios just steps away!
Come see my original piece, "Flight of Reason" created specifically for this themed show. This is a very diverse show from outlandish and intricate sculpture and taxidermy, to detailed and remarkable works in ink or paint. This is the fourth year running. Opening is April 7th. Show runs through April.
